The pattern of inset circles swells in my voice—phonemes caught on the haunches of my longing. Your words full of echoes and static. And in your voice phonemes catch dust and solar wind. The phone chord jostles your words (full of echoes), and static struts my throat. Your voice is also Dust. Solar. Wind. The phone chord jostles memory, I have not stopped the struts that line my throat, your voice—also memories. The proof of our correspondence: memory. I have not stopped on the haunches of my long memory: the proof of our correspondence, the pattern of. Inset—circles, swells.

This Is Only Temporary (free) 03:29
This is only temporary What do I even gain? A generation comes, another goes But the earth will still remain And since it’s only January There’s still a year to come The sun will rise and the sun will set Back to where it had begun What has been is what will be done There is nothing new under the sun This is only temporary Everything we build Every stream runs into the sea But the sea is never filled It’s enough to make you weary I can’t begin to say My eyes and ears are never satisfied Cause they are never filled all the way And you can’t see what isn’t on display What is crooked will never be straight I first thought I was wise Then I opened my eyes There’s nothing new under the sun I can’t do anything but what has always been done There’s no remembrance of the past We even forget the things that have not yet come to pass This is only temporary Cause fire always burns The wind will run its course around the world But it’s a circle that returns It really is extraordinary All that’s left in store Seeking novelty will take you to Mountain tops and ocean floors But you won’t find what you’re looking for Cause what you seek is knocking on your door I thought that I was wise Until I opened my eyes There’s nothing new under the sun I can’t do anything but what has always been done There’s no remembrance of the past We even forget the things that have not yet come to pass

You’re whispering a secret But I know it like the back of your hand Hands that know just how to hold me Hands that even know the old me Everything I ever buried Everything that I can’t bear Laid bare we’re both the same Married by our very name You know me Better than I know myself Your eyes know how to read me You know all the words before they come out The greatest book I ever read Is the one inside your head Something going on in your eyes I know what nobody else sees You’re looking right through me You’re seeing into me You know me Better than I know myself

about

In 2011, I decided to record and release a new song every month. This album is the result of that project. These are the songs for January through November. The song I wrote in December eventually became a part of a Christmas record I later released, called Good News, It's Christmas!
